Northeast coast of Brazil

This true-color MODIS image from June 11, 2002, shows the northeast coast of Brazil. In the waters along the Atlantic Coast, there are colorful swirls that could be a mixture of sediment churned up by tides and deposited by rivers and phytoplankton.
